Celebrating 32 Years of Iain Courage at Fleet Line Markers

Celebrating 32 Years of Iain Courage at Fleet Line Markers

Chris Bridges |

At Fleet Line Markers, we're fortunate to work alongside people who don't just contribute to the business, they help shape it.

This year, we're proud to celebrate an incredible milestone as Iain Courage marks 32 years with Fleet Line Markers.

Thirty-two years is an extraordinary achievement in any career, but for those who know Iain, it's about much more than the number. It's about the relationships he's built, the knowledge he's shared, the miles he's travelled, and the countless customers, colleagues, and friends he's supported along the way.

If there's one thing that becomes clear when you ask people about Iain, it's that his impact extends far beyond selling line marking equipment.

He's become one of the most recognisable and respected figures in the sports turf and line marking industry.

Building Relationships That Last

Throughout his career, Iain has worked with sports clubs, contractors, schools, councils, and distributors across the UK and around the world.

For many customers, he's become much more than a supplier.

Jim Holden, General Manager at TurfCare, summed it up perfectly:

"Iain is a true gentleman, an outstanding professional, and someone who is genuinely passionate about his products, service, and advice."

It's a sentiment echoed by many.

Whether it's taking the time to answer questions, helping solve problems, or simply checking in to see how things are going, Iain's commitment to his customers has always gone beyond the day job.

More Than a Supplier, A Friend to Many

One of the recurring themes throughout the messages we received was that Iain's relationships have always extended beyond products and sales.

For many people, he's been a trusted advisor, mentor, and friend.

Jax Cain of Cain Markings reflected on the impact Iain has had throughout her career:

"From the very first day I met Iain, it was clear he was someone truly special. He has always shown an incredible level of care, support, and patience, no matter how many questions we threw at him. He treated our work as if it were the most important thing in the world that day, and that level of dedication never went unnoticed.

Iain's encouragement, generosity with his time, and genuine belief in me have had a huge impact on how I've grown and found my feet in the industry. More than a professional connection, he has been a great friend and a constant supporter, and I will always be deeply grateful for everything he's done."

Jax also summed up Iain's unique ability to multitask better than anyone:

"He's still the only person I know who can operate a BeamRider, take a phone call and drink coffee all at the same time. That's classic Iain, effortlessly skilled, endlessly supportive, and impossible not to admire."

Those sentiments are echoed internationally by Peter Lindemark of Jordelit, who has worked alongside Iain for almost three decades:

"Over my 27 years in this industry, I have had the pleasure of being in frequent contact with you, and I can honestly say that your professionalism, reliability, and outstanding service have always stood out. Your dedication over an impressive 32-year career is truly remarkable.

You have consistently been a trusted and valued partner, and it has always been a pleasure working with you. People like you make a real difference, and your positive attitude and commitment have not gone unnoticed."

It's clear that for many of those who have worked with him, Iain's legacy isn't simply built on expertise and product knowledge, it's built on the relationships he has nurtured over more than three decades. After 32 years in the industry, it's fair to say Iain has seen it all.

Sharing Knowledge and Experience

From local sports clubs to some of the world's most famous sporting venues, his experience has taken him across the globe.

Bradley Tennant of IGFH recalls:

"In comparison to others, I've only known Iain for a relatively short period of time, around
7-8 years. We've had the pleasure of meeting in several locations and at various events; every encounter is great. Always met with a smile and a positive attitude. This is a true reflection of Iain's character and passion for the industry, he loves it."

"He's built up incredible knowledge and is always keen to share his expertise and stories with others. I'll never forget the casual mention of marking out the San Siro... like it's nothing out of the ordinary. That's Iain."

For many in the industry, Iain has become a trusted source of advice and encouragement.

Those experiences haven't just benefited customers, they've helped shape Fleet's distributor network around the world and supported the next generation of Fleet representatives internationally.

Cees and Arjen from Milati reflected on their first demonstrations with Iain:

"I have very fond memories of the first time I was with Iain on a demo in Eindhoven. He taught me the MAQA, BeamRider and Kombi and explained all the ins and outs, even how to run a BeamRider while holding a cup of coffee!"

They went on to describe Iain as:

"A beacon of knowledge, always thinking with you when problems arise and always a very jolly guy to be around."

Jan Bech from Denmark also reflected on the many years he has worked alongside Iain:

"It has been such a pleasure working with you over the nearly twenty years I have known you. You have always been helpful, reliable, and easy to work with."

Beyond the professional relationship, Jan also recalled the friendships formed along the way:

"I especially remember our fun road trips in Denmark over the years. They gave us some great memories, and we definitely share the same sense of humour."

He added:

"Thank you for your support and friendship. Wishing you all the best and congratulations on this great achievement. I hope we continue our collaboration for many years to come."

Stories like these highlight a theme that runs throughout so many of the messages we received. For Iain, business relationships have often become genuine friendships that have lasted decades.

For those who have worked alongside him internationally, Iain's willingness to share knowledge has been instrumental in helping Fleet's products and reputation grow across global markets.

Going the Extra Mile

One of the themes that came through time and time again was Iain's willingness to go above and beyond.

Whether it's demonstrating equipment, helping customers find solutions, or creating some of Fleet's famous large-scale stencil projects, Iain has always approached his work with enthusiasm and creativity.

Liam Philpotts from Fleet US reflected on his early days at Fleet:

"It quickly became apparent that Iain had the energy to go the extra mile for his customers and that they appreciated it."

Over the years, that dedication has helped strengthen Fleet's reputation throughout the industry.

More Than a Colleague

Iain's influence stretches across the entire Fleet family.

John Carr and the team at Fleet Australasia reflected on the many years they've worked together:

"Your dedication, commitment, and contribution to the business have been outstanding, and your influence has helped shape Fleet into what it is today."

Those words capture exactly what makes this milestone so significant.

It's not simply about years of service.

It's about helping build a company and a community.

Closer to home, Chris Bridges from Fleet Line Markers highlighted the impact Iain has had within the business itself:

"I've had the pleasure of working with Iain for 10 years now. You won't find anyone more knowledgeable about line marking. He's seen and done it all within the industry and has been a key part of Fleet's success and growth."

Chris also emphasised the qualities that so many others mentioned throughout their testimonials:

"More importantly, he's a great friend and someone who is always willing to help and support others, whether that's inside or outside the workplace."

It's a fitting tribute from someone who has worked alongside Iain and witnessed first-hand the contribution he continues to make to Fleet every day. Few people have seen the impact Iain has had on Fleet as closely as Chris, making his words particularly meaningful.

A Friend to the Industry

Perhaps the most striking thing about the messages we received was how often one word appeared.

Friend.

Andy Cheek from Skippers Ground Maintenance put it best:

"Iain has always been available to take my calls, offer advice, and help us continue pushing our business forward. He consistently puts his customers first and is someone I'm proud to call a good friend within the industry."

That's a remarkable legacy to build over a career.

Thank You, Iain

Thirty-two years of service represents thousands of customer visits, countless demonstrations, industry events, early starts, late finishes, and a genuine commitment to helping people achieve the very best from Fleet's products.

But perhaps more importantly, it's 32 years of building relationships that have stood the test of time.

The comments we've received from customers, colleagues, distributors, and friends all point to the same conclusion.

Iain isn't just a valued member of the Fleet team.

He's someone who has made a lasting impact on the people and businesses he's worked with throughout his career.

From everyone at Fleet Line Markers, thank you for your loyalty, dedication, and friendship over the last 32 years.

Congratulations, Iain, on an incredible milestone, and here's to many more stories, demonstrations, coffees, and miles on the road ahead.

A Few Words From the Industry

We'd also like to thank everyone who took the time to share their memories and kind words. Reading through them, one thing became abundantly clear, Iain's reputation has been built not just on expertise and professionalism, but on kindness, generosity, and genuine friendship.

Congratulations, Iain. Thirty-two years is an incredible achievement, but the friendships, knowledge, and respect you've earned along the way may be an even greater legacy. Your contribution to Fleet Line Markers and the wider grounds industry is something to be truly proud of.

Laurence Gale ,

Id like to echo the word “Friend” I first met Iain in the late 90s, early 2000s, he introduced me to a weird looking marker called The Kombi, it had a battery and didn’t cover you in paint, for some strange reason I didn’t like it! Now I wouldn’t be without one. He taught me how to mark logo’s from stencils that he made himself back then. We struck up a great friendship that’s remained ever since. Congratulations Iain on your 32 years, here’s to many more.

Sean Davenport,

Delighted to read testimony of Iain’s long and successful career with you. I’m immensely proud of my cousin.
